Friday Fabric Feature

Sneaking a non barkcloth into this Fridays Fabric Feature. Its a 1970s manmade fibre and I only have a tiny piece of it but I love it.

Some of you may remember that I've blogged before about a certain colour combo love. Yes its that pink/ornage/mauve think again.

I was tempted to include some images of celebrities wearing the much discussed "porange" but I think we get enough celebrity images thrust at us so I'll spare you those...unless you want too :)
With summer fading fast I couldn't resist a burst of hot colour blocking and made myself a shade for the bedroom. Yes its a keeper.

Had some lovely old cotton pom-pom trim to finish her off.

If you like the shape of the frame check in next week as FollyandGlee will have a very limited number of some exciting new frames launching in the shop very soon.

Have a lovely weekend.

Morning thank you

There is no denying that life - like our regular morning walk - has been rather steeply up hill of late.

When we reach a plateau it can be overwhelming to consider how small "we" are and which paths and what direction might lay ahead.

This morning we just took time to enjoy the little things we came across......

and sat a while to say thank you.

The Friday Fabric Feature

I am feeling silly that I stash away found fabrics. Fabulous fabrics, be they foraged or financed , are for sharing and so I hereby pledge to  feature a favourite every Friday.

To kick us off may I introduce Tesorla.

Tesorla fabric with Orla Kiely charity bag for Tesco
Tesorla is a lightweight cotton barkcloth. He has no name or maker upon his selvedge and so I cannot date him with any certainty. I named him Tesorla because of his striking similarity to the colours and patterning of my favourite charity shopping bag designed by Orla Kiely for Tesco. I feel he is a he because of his popularity with chaps with a liking for mid-century modern stuff.

Tesorla has traffic light red circles ring with white on a chocolate base, the most gorgeous olive and chocolate circles on a white base, caramel and sage circles on a pale grey base and blocks of charcoal grey.

Tesorla Large Retro Drum at FollyandGlee

He loves to be made into lampshades....particularly the larger retro drums for standard lamps. His ambition is to find a partner and pachwork a cushion or two.

If you think you could give Tesorla a loving home pop in and say hello@follyandglee.co.uk.

Patchwork pillows

I had so much fun over the weekend putting together some patchwork cushions for a lovely new customer. It was just the best thing playing around to see which fabrics worked together. I covered some buttons for the back with trusty Little A. For the front I added some cotton crochet trim in a colour that seemed to pull things together. What do you think?
Rose

Blooming

Cornflower

Chocolate

They were so fun to do I've added one of each to the shop.

Inspiring reads

I had a lovely suprise in my inbox yesterday. A note from Tif aka Dottie Angel to say she'd spotted a Folly&Glee Danish Mod Lamp on the  fab sfgirlbybay blog. Well I've never seen N.E.E.T magazine before but looks like a truly inspiring read.

Dottie Angel's Book
I am hoping that those killjoys at HM Customs don't delay my parcel too much longer and that I will soon have my paws on its handstitched cover. You can get your copy here .

If that wasn't enough the Liberty Book of Home Sewing is out in October and its worth checking out the Liberty Blog for allsorts of nice projects in the run up to publication. You can watch a video or dowload a pdf pattern for a super simple Liberty oven glove.
Even better there's a sneaky peak inside  the book with preview patterns for a round patchwork cushion
